Adelante! The path forward and onward.

The defining moment that changed my life happened gradually over the course ofseveral years, between 2014-2019. Prior to those years, I felt great; I was expressing my value within an organization as a COO with over 10 years of experience. I was accustomed to managing and wielding over 4 million-dollar budgets and 300 staff members and volunteers. My career had meaning, depth, and financial success.

In 2015 my husband and I decided to move to a small town in Arizona to give our kids the opportunity to establish and grow up with good friends and deep roots within a close-knit community. I chose to leave the corporate world and be a stay-at-home mom, but soon found it was a role that did not fit me or how I perceived myself. The difference between what I was used to professionally and what I was living were far too different and jarring.

One day in the laundry room all the pent up emotions culminated. I was feeling unsettled, unhappy, generally miserable; my husband asked what was wrong. I blurted out that I hated being a “stay-at-home” wife–I needed more. His reply, “then go find something different!”

That’s all I needed to hear. I decided to re-invent myself; but my new profession had to be something that allowed me to be available for my kids at a moment’s notice but would still allow me to grow as a professional. I decided virtual bookkeeping was my answer. I found an extensive “soup to nuts” bookkeeping course, spent $1,500 and I was on my way to newfound independence and growth!

The decision to take the bookkeeping course aligned with my passion for life-long learning and evolving. I am ALWAYS taking courses to better myself and my career! I was elated that I found a career and business that was all mine–I rise or fall on my own merit. My bookkeeping career allows me to grow within a niche ofmy choosing and allows me to forge my own path outside of those core niches if I so choose.

Entrepreneurship is my sweet spot; I love the autonomy of being able to make my own decisions. I started Adelante Bookkeeping in 2019. Along the way I discovered the need to level up my boundaries and how I enforce them both in my personal and professional life.

Being a business owner is its own self-development course and I have experienced that core development many times! I have learned to overcome “imposter syndrome” and trust my instinct. I have learned I can make my own money, support myself fully and comfortably on my own, and I wholeheartedly appreciate the love and support of my family.

I love making money, being a good steward of money and helping other business owners build a healthy relationship with their numbers and revenues. Bookkeeping is a noble profession and I am grateful to be living my dream and passion! I want my path to “move forward and onward;” I want to live up to every potential and possibility within my vision, Adelante!
